Dolby Atmos and Dolby Surround Upmixing
Dolby Atmos surround sound technology dispenses with channel-based coding in favor of more advanced object-based coding, giving the sound designer the ability to precisely place sounds anywhere in the 3-dimensional space. The VSX-934 features the ability to connect a 5.2-channel surround sound speaker system and two additional overhead speakers, or two additional Dolby Atmos-certified up-firing speakers. Additionally, audio codecs such as PCM and DSD can be upmixed using Dolby Surround for 3D surround sound.
DTS:X and DTS Neural:X Upmixing
DTS:X is designed to leverage object-based audio to enable immersive and interactive audio experiences. Since DTS:X can automatically adapt the audio to the existing channels and speaker system, no specific speaker layout is required for an immersive soundscape with lifelike audio. Audio codecs such as PCM and DSD can be upmixed using DTS Neural:X for 3D surround sound.
Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization, Available via a Future Firmware Update
When playing any Dolby format, engaging this mode enables a more immersive listening experience by creating virtual surround and height effects from traditional speaker layouts without using surround or height speakers.
DTS Virtual:X, Available via a Future Firmware Update
DTS Virtual:X is designed to provide a three-dimensional immersive sound similar to DTS:X, but without height or rear speakers. It supports 2- to 7.1.4-channel input sources for delivery via 2- to 7.1-channel speaker layouts. It works with all DTS codecs, including DTS:X.
Press the Personal Preset button on the front panel for three seconds and your current settings, such as volume level and listening mode, will be saved. Up to three presets can be registered and recalled via the front panel button or the remote control.
This mid-range sound control feature allows you to make independent volume adjustments to boost the dialogue in your movies. These volume adjustments can be made with the up/down keys on the remote control.
Supports HDR10, HLG, Dolby Vision, and BT.2020
The VSX-934 supports pass-through for HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision signals. By connecting a compatible source device, you can enjoy these video standards on your compatible display. Additionally, all the onboard HDMI terminals support 4K (60p/4:4:4, 24-bit), Wide Color Gamut (BT.2020), and HDCP 2.2 for enhanced compatibility.
MCACC Auto Room Tuning
MCACC (Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration System) is designed to automatically compensate for differences in speaker size, level, and distance, and equalize response accordingly to help you achieve an enhanced acoustic environment.
Works with Sonos
When you connect the receiver to your Sonos Connect, you can play any audio source to it via your Sonos app. You can group the receiver with other Sonos devices on the network or use it independently, and the receiver will automatically turn on and switch to the proper input as soon as you start playing music via the Sonos app.
Powered Zone 2 with Dedicated DAC
With the powered Zone 2 feature, the receiver can directly drive speakers in another room without a separate amplifier. Additionally, the dedicated DAC for Zone 2 lets you listen to nearly all digital audio sources.
Zone B Output
The VSX-934 is equipped with Zone B audio output terminals for expanding the Main Zone sound by connecting your wireless headphone dock. You can listen to the sound playing in the living room via wireless headphones. Alternatively, you can connect an amplifier located in an additional room to play synchronized audio in both rooms.
Built-In Bluetooth Wireless Technology
With built-in Bluetooth wireless technology, you can stream songs from compatible devices. The VSX-934 supports the A2DP and AVRCP profiles and the SBC and AAC codecs. By pressing the Bluetooth button on the front panel, you can start the Bluetooth function, even from standby mode.
